Press Release - Purple Data Cables announces new Low Power cable technology
*******************************************************
Purple Data Cables today announces a new line of cables for Visor. This is compatible with all of the 8-pin Visors (Visor, Solo, Deluxe, Platinum, Prism, Neo, Pro.) They can be used to connect serially with a large number of add-on devices such as GPS, modems, data acquisition units, etc. These cables have interface electronics packaged inside the connector that mates with the Visor. The significance of this new Low Power technology lies in the much lower power consumption as compared to standard RS232 interface cables - they draw less than a tenth of the power! Anyone that uses a serial connection between a Visor and an add-on device can benefit from this technology.
This is the latest addition to the product lineup for Purple Data Cables, the world's largest manufacturer of RS232 data cables for Visors. Interested parties can find more information about Purple Data Cables Cables on www.pcables.com.
ADDITIONAL INFO:
The low-power cable technology is based on CMOS inverters instead of a capacitor charge-pump based RS232 converter chip. The inverters draw much less quiescent current than the charge pump. Consequently, this technology is able to be used with many of the new Visors - Platinum, Neo, Pro which do not provide enough current to operate the RS232 converter chip.
